Children's Lessons in the Teaching Pool
Parent & Toddler
4 months - 3 years
A drop in session held by a qualified instructors. This session is an ideal first step into the water. Includes toys, songs and fun.
10.00am - 11.00am Monday, Wednesday* and Fridays (*Term time only).
Adult & Baby
6 months - 18 months
Adult & Child
18 months - 3 years
An initial introduction for babies/children to the water. Emphasis is placed on developing water confidence and achieving independence.
Pre School
Main objectives involve safe entry and exit, moving freely, submerging, floating and the first stages of learning to swim independently.
Beginners
Continued development of learning to swim independently. At this stage a focus is geared towards water confidence and having fun.
Improvers
Focus is now on building basic technique for movement through water using the strokes; front crawl, back crawl and basic breast stroke. On completion of this level children will be confident of swimming front crawl and back crawl.
Intermediates
Development of stokes focusing on breathing techniques and timing. Waterskills also include treading water, building of stamina and an introduction to butterfly. On completion of this level children will be confident of swimming 25m front crawl, back crawl and breast stroke.
Advanced
A continuation of refining the three strokes to build stamina. Further development of butterfly and an introduction to starts and turns. Building an essential awareness in personal water safety and survival. On completion of this level children will be confident of swimming 50m in all three strokes.
Stroke Development
An introduction to the early stages of training for competitive swimming. The development of both basic aerobic swimming endurance and swimming speeds are integrated within this programme.
Mini Squad
This one hour session is designed specifically to lay the foundation to prepare young swimmers to take part in competitive swimming.
Rookies – Lifesavers
Learn lifesaving in a fun and active way. Rookies learn about their own water safety, handling emergency situations, resuscitation and all other essential skills.
Adults
Mixed classes designed for all levels and abilities. Private classes are also available and provide a flexible option in swimming tuition.
